About Maryam

Maryam is a final-year medical student devoted to promoting health equity and advancing compassionate care. With a strong passion for supporting underserved communities, she is driven to make a meaningful and lasting impact where it is needed most.

Maryam is currently studying Medicine at Bond University, a path she has diligently pursued since a young age. As a committed Australian with deep cultural roots, she possesses a keen understanding of the complexities involved in navigating diversity. An avid traveller, Maryam has explored various parts of the globe, fostering a particular interest in rural and vulnerable populations.

“There is nothing more agonising than watching loved ones deteriorate and feeling powerless to help.

Access to healthcare is not just a need; it is a fundamental right.”

“Growing up, it was always disconcerting to witness the stark contrast between two worlds. I frequently asked my mother why our loved ones back home lacked access to basic medications and treatments.

Why was I privileged with opportunities they were denied?

However, as my understanding of the world expanded, and I began to comprehend the unseen realities and the people behind them, my question evolved.

How can I leverage these opportunities to give back?

Maryam is driven to address the inherent limitations of healthcare by working from within the system. She has a strong interest in several key areas, including Dermatology, Women’s Health, Paediatrics, and Emergency Care. With many years of study ahead, her goal is to serve rural populations with dedication, compassion, and a commitment to making a meaningful difference in their healthcare.
