Caring for our rural health practitioners

Dr John Buckley visits Darling Downs to deliver GP services for our rural health practitioners.

Excitement builds as John hits the road

GPs4RuralDocs is back on the road again with a mission to reach as many rural GPs and health practitioners as we can.

As well as  Quilpie, Charleville and Cunnamulla,  Rural Doctors Foundation visits St George, Stanthorpe and Goondiwindi. providing GP services to health practitioners.

Home to thousands of rural Queenslanders, these towns play their own unique and important role in Australia’s economy, livelihood and community. Most importantly, these towns have been identified most in need for a GP service specifically designed to care for their towns’ dedicated healthcare practitioners.

Towns in the region face ongoing GP shortages, natural disasters and the everyday challenge of distance and isolation.

This is a much-needed service for health practitioners currently travelling over 300 kilometres for their healthcare.

Dr John Buckley is the Treating GP for the GP service to St George, Stanthorpe and Goondiwindi. Drawing on over 40 years as a GP and his own experience as the sole doctor in Mount Morgan, coupled with an innate ability to connect with people, John is ideal to deliver this service.

We have support for the GP service with Goondiwindi Medical Centre and St George Medical Centre as Host Practices to Dr John Buckley when in town.

We thank our members and supporters. GPs4RuralDocs has only been possible with their generous support.

If you would like to champion our cause, please consider a monthly or one-off donation so we can provide even more support to rural and remote communities.
