    Why you’re needed

If you don’t live in the country, here are some figures that might surprise you. The mortality rates are 1.8 times what they are in the city. People in rural and remote areas also live shorter lives and have higher rates of disease and injury. 3 in 5 people don’t see a specialist when they should. Mostly, because there isn’t one around. You see, people in rural and remote areas are at higher risk every day.

It doesn’t take much to make a big difference

With the gap so wide, rural, and remote volunteering can make a really big impact in the lives of the community. Do you have a medical background? Or instead, maybe you have a business background? From helping us deliver our lifesaving programs to using your administrative skills to researching and writing health articles and everything in between. Your help is valued and appreciated.

“Volunteering is an act of heroism on a grand scale. And it matters profoundly. It does more than help people beat the odds; it changes the odds.”

    – William J Clinton

    Plus, volunteering is very rewarding

Volunteering could be the start of something significant, just as it has been in ours. Our Board and Committee members are all volunteers.  So, just like you, we care a whole lot about giving rural and remote communities every chance. And saving more lives.

Being able to be a part of making a tangible difference to people’s lives and futures feels great. Seeing improvements to our own communities.
As well as seeing the changes we make to places all around the country.

Donating your time to improve rural health outcomes can be valuable to us, and even more rewarding for you.

What can I do to help?

With the gap so wide, rural, and remote volunteering can make a really big impact. Do you have a medical background? Or maybe a business background? Your help is valued and appreciated.

    Conducting important health research

We are working to understand  barriers to good health in our rural communities. This  research informs our programs and enables us to better advocate for rural and remote health needs.

    Building awareness

Do you have a finance, marketing, fundraising or  administration  background? If you are a budding journalist, you could research articles on a myriad of health issues, or use your social media skills to spread the word.  We’d love to put your skills to good use!
