Gifts in Wills

Gifts in Wills give a healthier life to future generations in the country

Rural Doctors Foundation is a small but mighty organisation with a lot of heart. We act to fill the gaps that exist in rural and remote healthcare. We do this by working directly with local communities when they need it most. Gifts in Wills  make sure more rural and remote people have access to lifesaving healthcare when they need it. By thinking of us in your Will, Rural Doctors Foundation could help more rural and remote communities:

  • Continue important health and wellbeing programs
  • Access healthcare and  be safe in times of natural disaster
  • Purchase lifesaving equipment for rural incidents
  • Find health issues in good time with more regular check-ups
  • Be better educated on  how to live a healthy life in rural and remote regions
  • Bring more medical professionals into rural and remote areas
  • Turn creative, grassroots ideas for better health in their  community into a reality!

A meaningful legacy when your heart is in the bush

Is your heart in the bush? Gifts in Wills are a wonderful way to give back to places and people who gave so much. If you’re from the country, you will understand just what kind of difference you can make to the lives of those you leave behind. Perhaps you want to thank your rural doctor? A bequest to a charity supporting rural health is a lovely way to do something meaningful when you can’t give to your doctor directly.

Often, those people who choose to leave a gift in their Will to Rural Doctors Foundation may have been directly involved in rural and remote health in their lives. Firstly, we thank you for your service, because it truly is a call of the heart to be a bush doctor. You will no doubt understand the struggles of rural medical life. And maybe you’d like to see a little more done to change that?

Or maybe, you are already a donor? Perhaps you are passionate about continuing to help rural and remote communities doing it tough when it comes to healthcare? Whatever your reasons, we thank you for choosing to leave a gift in your Will. It is truly an honour to hold your legacy. We know our life saving programs will do you proud!

Thoughts on making your Will

What type of bequest?

RESIDUAL – A gift of the remainder of your estate or instead, a percentage of your estate. Helpful if you don’t know yet what your final estate will contain.
SPECIFIC – A specific amount you wish to leave to the Rural Doctors Foundation in your will. This is also known as a Pecuniary Bequest.
ASSET
– An asset such as real estate, shares or bonds, as well as a Superannuation or Life Insurance policy and items of value.

Consult your solicitor

Importantly, it is always advisable to seek advice from your Solicitor when making a will.

Family First

We understand your family, your loved ones are your main priority in your will. As it should be. We are very grateful for any gift you can manage after you have taken care of them. It is a great idea to inform your family you intend to leave a gift in your will to the Rural Doctors Foundation. That way, your family can be understanding of your wishes when the time comes.

Allocation of the bequest

Gifts in Wills have the most impact when you trust us to direct your bequest to our most pressing projects. However, should you choose to specify how you want your funds allocated, we will honour that too.
