Rural Doctors Foundation and The Harrison Group announce three year partnership to support rural healthcare
The Harrison Group is an Australian family-owned business with over 100 years of experience in distribution, manufacturing, research and supply of a wide range of specialised raw materials, and specialty additives. The Harrison Group has announced a three-year partnership with Rural Doctors Foundation to support the delivery of the GPs4RuralDocs program in South East Queensland.
This strategic collaboration will help ensure continued access to confidential healthcare services for rural health practitioners in Goondiwindi, St George, Stanthorpe, and Charleville – communities where access to care is often limited.
Julie Harrison, Director of The Harrison Group and CEO of Harrison Manufacturing brings a deep personal connection to healthcare through her early career as a nurse. Her experience has shaped the organisation’s commitment to supporting frontline health workers in rural and remote areas.
As a former nurse, I understand the pressures and isolation that rural health professionals face. We’re proud to support Rural Doctors Foundation in their mission to care for the caregivers and strengthen rural health systems.
The opportunities in such a partnership are endless. Rural Doctors Foundation joined The Harrison Group on their stand at the Cotton Collective event held in Toowoomba recently to engage with growers and industry leaders. This event marked the beginning of a collaborative journey with exciting initiatives underway to involve the Harrison Group’s team including a Charity Giving Day, and ways to engage their team so they can better understand the challenges of those living in rural and remote Australia.
With Harrison Group’s support, Rural Doctors Foundation is also exploring opportunities to expand the GPs4RuralDocs program beyond Queensland, reaching more rural and remote communities across Australia. This expansion aims to address the growing need for confidential, accessible healthcare for rural practitioners nationwide.
Amanda Roser, Chair of Rural Doctors Foundation, is excited to see this support of the GPs4RuralDocs program and potential expansion for the future. “We have received encouraging feedback from the previous clinics. We know how much it means to the dedicated health practitioners living and working in these communities – and we’re determined to continue supporting them as best we can”.

Distance and isolation pose a huge challenge for rural health practitioners and so what happens when they need a doctor, and the closest one is over 300 kilometres away? This is the problem we’re addressing and it’s why we’re passionate about providing this GP service for rural health practitioners in rural and remote towns,” she says.
With support from The Harrison Group, we hope to expand our programs and remove barriers to healthcare for medical practitioners by bringing care to them, ensuring they can stay in their communities and be there to care for the people living in the community that need them.
