Workplace Giving

A little support from everyone can save lives in rural communities

Workplace Giving helps us provide essential  healthcare for people living in rural and remote.  It allows employees to donate a portion of their pre-tax salary. Employers can also match those funds. It may only be a small amount, but what you give can make a really big difference to a rural community. Workplace Giving can help save lives. And it’s one of the easiest ways you can give back to those who need it most.

How do I start giving back through Workplace Giving?

For the cost of a cup of coffee, your Workplace Giving can fund live saving work. Here’s how you do it.

  1. Complete the form below.  We will inform your employer of your intention and request your Payroll Advisor to establish your Workplace Giving with Rural Doctors Foundation.
  2. If your employer already has a Workplace Giving program in place, this will be a simple process they will be used to.
  3. If a Workplace Giving program is not currently in place at your work, that’s okay. We are happy to help your payroll department and will get in touch with them and walk them through the process. If they have any questions at any time, they can contact Rural Doctors Foundation on (07) 3039 0011.
  4. Check if your employer matches donations to double the impact of your gift!

What is Workplace Giving?

Workplace Giving is when employees make small, regular donations from their pay, before tax. Also known as payroll giving, it’s a simple proven method of making regular donations through your payroll system, and all payroll systems in Australia have this ability.

Your donation is taken from your pre-tax salary. This means Rural Doctors Foundation will receive the full amount of your donation, but your out-of-pocket expense is much less due to tax benefits. Your organisation may also choose to increase the impact of Workplace Giving through donation matching, fundraising, volunteering, or in-kind support.

So, what does this look like every payday?

Say you want to give $10 from each pay to help rural health. Great! It actually only costs you $6.40. That’s because the donation is taken from your pre-tax salary. So, while we receive the full $10, it costs you less. Ask your employer to match your donation, and that $10 becomes $20. So, what are the benefits of this approach?

Immediate

You get to enjoy the tax deduction benefits immediately, without having to wait for the end of the financial year.

A win-win

Workplace Giving is a win for rural and remote people, and it’s a win for you too!

It's pre tax

It doesn’t affect superannuation or payroll tax calculations like salary sacrificing would.

Reduces liability

Workplace Giving reduces your tax liability but doesn’t decrease your gross income.

Less record-keeping

Because Workplace Giving is done on payroll, it eliminates the need for you to keep records of your donations.

Saving lives.

Importantly, Rural Doctors Foundation is helping rural communities access life-saving equipment and better healthcare.

Are you an employer?

Matching dollar for dollar with payroll giving can reduce your company’s tax obligations, while being part of a life-changing and life-saving program.

Your regular donation ensures our life saving work is sustainable.
